With the advent of technology, it is undeniable that our growth as a society is intricately linked to our technological inventions. However, for a system that serves a diverse populace, the institutions that produce the innovations often lack diversity. For app developer Carol Wang, the only way forward is through more diversity and inclusion. “Live your dream and wear your passion”, is the life mantra of Carol Wang, a young app developer and freshman Computer Science major at UC Berkeley. She shared with DyNAMC that she developed a passion for technology, specifically app development, after “realizing how much you can do with it.”

Rep. Kelly shares her journey with DyNAMC from growing up in New York City, having worked in her family grocery store at eight years old through serving in leadership capacities as a counselor, government and eventually politics.

Deena Pierott grew up in San Bernardino, CA, the youngest of four children. Ever curious about how things work, she was the risk-taker in the family. When she was twelve years old, she learned to drive by sneaking out in the middle of the night, driving her mom's car in the driveway. "I was the female version of Dennis the Menace," Deena shared with DyNAMC. She didn't realize then, that her boldness was indicative of an entrepreneurial spirit which served her well later in life when she launched the most innovative support and training technology program for youth in the country today.

As Maurice Tomlinson puts it, the law is no silver bullet. However, where there is discriminatory legislation, visibility campaigns done by any minority group are at risk. It is not a secret that contact and conversation are the best ways to eradicate xenophobia, but without legislation providing a means of legal recourse, advocates are at risk. DyNAMC speaks with International renowned LGBTI Activist Maurice Tomlinson as to why changed legislation is necessary.

Kaj is a Morehouse College – 2017 student, NAACP Political Action Executive Board Chairman Youth and College Division DyNAMC Future Leader and Kaj served as a millennial panelist at the 2016 NAMCO Leadership Diversity Summit and he made such a great impression that he was included as a 2017 DyNAMC Men of Excellence. – Stay tuned for what he has coming up next.
